10 Things Kate Likes about the e-cloth Washing Up Pad

  1. it’s contoured and fits nicely in my hand
  2. it’s firm – not squishy
  3. it’s great for washing drinking glasses
  4. I can just dampen it and wipe the outside of my son’s sippy cup. He likes to carry his sippy cup around the house with him after meals and slowly sip away. But they’re usually smeared with food/sauce/milk after a meal. The Washing Up Pad wipes all the grease and food off easily so then he can keep using the cup without me worrying about him getting grease all over the house. It’s also good for wiping the tray for the booster seat.
  5. it’s machine washable (and is guaranteed for 300 washings!)
  6. you can boil it so if you’re worried about bacteria, just boil it for 10 minutes
  7. the scrubber is pretty good and very gentle. Like any non-scratch scrubber, there are some messes that it just isn’t scrubby enough for but it is great for frying pans, stove tops, baking pans, pots, etc. I’ve also used the scrubber several times on my painted walls to get “I don’t know what that dried up gunk is” off without ruining the paint.
  8. I have yet to see a hair stuck in it. Food does get stuck in the scrubby side though, but it always comes out in the washing machine.
  9. I love it for cleaning my kitchen sink.
  10. the scrubber and microfiber have both held up really well and I can tell even after 9 months of use, it’s still got lots of life in it.

Do You Use Dish Soap with the Washing Up Pad or Not?

This is a question I get a lot, and to be frank, it's a question I had as well.

I put the question to Al Coviello, CEO of TADGreen Inc., and here is his response:

The Pad is to designed to be used with no detergent if you are preparing dishes, pots, pans for a dishwasher (think green, think saving money).  If you are washing dishes, pots, pans not to be put in a dishwasher, you may or may not add detergent.  You can use dish detergent with the Pad any time you want to on either side of the Pad.

Personally, I’ve not yet been able to put my dish detergent to rest so I still use it. But the choice is yours.

I love this product. I have noticed some don't like it as well as the other ecloth products. I will occasionally boil my cloths with vinegar and then wash them. These are the best scrubbers out there period.

Love this sponge for washing dishes. Works great on non stick pans without scratching them.

We've been using these sponges for years and love them! The 2 sides (mildly abrasive and spongy) are perfect for getting dishes clean. It lasts us a few months each; we simply toss it into the garbage and open up a new one.

To the folks who notice a moldly smell, you nee to periodically microwave the sponge for a minute or two to kill any germs (this is true of any sponge you use).

Far superior to the useless 3M sponges.

Great sponge. I have one in the shower to clean the walls and floors - removes soap scum in a flash. It's also my go to sponge for dishwashing and kitchen cleanup. I've never noticed any musty smell, I squeeze it as dry as I can and it's fine.

Love my scrubby sponge. It works great on dishes and pans. However, the scrubby side has some threads coming loose. It still works great though.

Great sponge! So much better than the ones from the supermarket. The scrubber is FANTASTIC at getting messes off, even cheese and egg. I wash it once a week with my other ecloths and have not had any issues with odor. However the scrubby side is starting to pill and some of the threads are coming loose :(

This pad is great for cleaning messes on my glass-top range. Scrub with one side, wipe with the other

I wanted to try this and it is a good scrubber. However, it didn't seem to take long before it had the "musty" smell which gets on one's hands. If I'm busy in the kitchen, I can't stop and totally rinse it out every time I use it. Only e-cloth product I haven't really liked.

I find that it needs to be washed frequently, especially after cleaning up anything with grease.

It is far better than any supermarket sponge! It is great for scrubbing and wiping, though I find it doesn't make things shiny like the other cloths. I have doubts about its 300 wash warranty though. I've had it for 2 months and it is really beat up. The grey part is pilling and falling out in places, and some of the scrubby strings are sticking out. But even so, I love using it and even if it only lasts 1 year vs 5, it beats buying a sponge a month like I used to.

Love this sponge! Fits perfectly in my hand and does a great job with a stuck on mess

Reviewed by Sonja, 05/06/12

I'm sure this is great for washing dishes but it's definitely the best sponge/scrubber for washing my kitchen sink!
